Or are we merely speculating and making theories that could explain why it has evolved this way? Evolution is a mature theory. This means that it explains so many things, so well, that scientists no longer seriously question *whether* something evolved*, but *how* it evolved. Is it "speculation" when we come up with reasons why or how something evolved? Somewhat ... but it is informed speculation. Why does a peacock have a big flashy tail? It certainly doesn't seem to provide any survival advantages ... in fact it would seem to have survival disadvantages in that it makes the peacocks more visible and less mobile. Q. I'm trying to find out what type of missions Green Berets are being sent on now versus the missions SEALs are involved in? I know that since this war everything has changed in terms of what each group does, and they all generally do the same types of work(because it's in heavy demand), I'm just trying to get a fix on the real difference between the current SEALs and Green Beret operators. Also if anyone knows about the difference in the two group's culture, it would help also. Thank you. Asked by wolfssolitude - Thu Jan 8 02:39:53 2009 - Military - 3 Answers - Comments A. oye, not sure about the posters backgrounds but here are few things- Green Berets-Primary mission is to conduct FID, Foriegn Internal Defense, it; training and leading local troops. They are older and tend to be used more for this and not often used for what is called Direct Action (DA) missions. They are the "Hearts and Minds" end of the Speical Operatins fight and are actually better for the "Long" war view. SEALs-Almost all missions are directed towards DA's, either recon, raids, ambushes, etc...they tend to be younger and while they do perform FID missions they are still focused primarily on doing direct action missions.
